Poor Poppy! We took her to the vets last night and this is how she came home!

She has a nasty allergic reaction (to some new tinned food, I think) which has resulted in a swollen head encrusted with scabs - she started to look like the 'elephant cat' yesterday!

The poor baby, she's made it much worse by scratching so she has to wear a lampshade collar for 4 days. She's had it on for a day and is only just getting used to it. She slept on our bed last night but neither of us got much sleep because the poor baby kept moving and trying to find a way to rest comfortably.

The swelling has gone down over night, but it still looks a bit nasty. Thankfully, her gastrointestinal problem hasn't flared up, just her skin, so fingers crossed she can stay on the same food, albeit the dry version and not the tinned.

Thanks Gemini. She is feeling sad and sorry for herself at the moment, the poor baby. She'll have that collar on until Tuesday.

What a difference a couple of days can make! Poppy's skin eruption seems to be under control and she's now got used to walking around with a lampshade over her neck lol.

We're keeping on through today (Monday) and will take it off on Tuesday morning. She's been such a brave little girl and I'm sure she'll be relieved to have it taken off!

Awww bless her. So glad she's getting better. She really will be relieved not to have that lampshade around her neck! What do the other Flower Girls make of it?

Oh she's been so good, mrsmarple. It's such a hard thing for a cat, having these collars, as cats navigate by their whiskers and the poor baby kept bumping into everything.

I'm tempted to take it off her tonight as the skin eruption has practically disappeard (and left her with lots of bald patches) and technically it is 4 days that she's had it (by tonight) but I'm worried she might scratch in the night... we'll see.
